After taking a break from New York Fashion Week, Nigerian designer Maki Oh Amaka Osakwe is back in town. She unveiled her Spring/Summer collection a few nights ago.
The main touchpoint for the new collection—The Boondocks, Cartoon Network’s popular animated adult sitcom. Osakwe was drawn to the unabashed flashiness of Thugnificent and Gangstalicious, the two fashion-obsessed rappers who appear in the series. It is why the collection doesn’t fall short on embellishments like; pearl, a modern alternative to old-school bling.
